Hi, I am Mary Angelini Co Founder of Gabi’s! I  was crushed when I realized NO ONE would hire my daughter, despite her love of service, hard work and bubbly personality.

This discrimination is super-common for adults with special abilities.  Only 18% of adults with a special ability are employed.  That’s why Gabi and I are focused on employing more people with special abilities. We currently have over 40 employees at our 2 nonprofit companies.

Gabi’s PALS (Packaging, Assembling, Labeling, Shipping) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals with special abilities.  Our operations are focused on providing meaningful employment and workplace training for these individuals so that they can become self-reliant and self-supporting. We would love to help your company with any fulfillment needs at your warehouse or at The Loading Dock!

Gabi’s GROUNDS sells coffee/tea and merchandise on our website or at our warehouse at The Loading Dock 1053 E. Whitaker Mill Rd in Raleigh. We also do pop up events with hot or iced coffees!

The Mission

Gabi’s Grounds mission is to EMPOWER the SPECIAL ABILITIES COMMUNITY to find their place in the world and ENJOY FULFILLMENT in everything they do.

We promote equal access to persons with disabilities in our workplace. We create market value that includes everyone in an enriched community while providing great coffee and a unique customer service experience.

The Business

The Challenge / The Opportunity

  • The Population With Disabilities (PWD) in the U.S. is largely underserved. About 82 % are unemployed.

A Solution to Create Value

  • Open a warehouse to train employees, ship orders, create products, and provide pop-up coffee shops with an innovative community focus to employ PWD and provide community-based services- locally.
  • Grow from within and existing community base, friends, and relatives that have an “affinity” to support the PWD market segment.

It’s Happening Now

  • In August 2020 our warehouse has opened at The Loading Dock at 1053E East Whitaker Mill Road Suite 115, Raleigh, NC 27604
  • Gabi and her friends are shipping orders, creating candles, and packing gift boxes.
  • Pop-up coffee shops are continuing to happen at local events in the Raleigh, NC area.
  • In 2021 we expanded the kinds of work services we provided to include packing and shipping orders for other businesses.
