Everyone wants to feel appreciated and wanted, especially in the workforce. Gabi’s Grounds all began because Gabi Angelini couldn’t find work. She kept getting turned down. Let’s face it the job market is tough, and it’s even tougher when you have an intellectual or developmental disability. It was decided that if Gabi wanted to work, she had to create her own company. Thus, Gabi’s Grounds Coffee Shop was created.
The original goal was to open a coffee shop where Gabi and her friends could work and have fun. We were very close to making this happen when COVID stalled the dream. It was a ultimately a blessing in disguise. Being resourceful, the decision was made to pivot so we could have people working. The shift was made to sell gift boxes, coffee, and wedding favors online. Everything could be assembled in a warehouse and we could continue to train people in the different areas of the business.
We now have a warehouse located in The Loading Dock Co-Warehousing space in Raleigh, NC. Our people are packing orders, making sample coffee bags, making candles, and key chains. We’re even partnering with other local companies that use workers with developmental disabilities. #brewingcommunity
Join our team and help continue to raise money, so that when the time is right we can open up the coffee shop so everyone can experience the love and joy that Gabi and her friends bring to the table.
